pitch us your script | acting portfolio submission

Northbound Studios is interested in original work—and
we know there's some really compelling stuff out there. The
following is a bit of information about what we are looking
for and what we are not.
What we are not interested in, are scripts that utilize excessive
hard language, exploit sex and violence for their own sake,
that portray them gratuitously, or that require graphic on
screen treatments. Your script may be brilliant, but if it
uses these aspects, it's not for Northbound Studios.
We are an independent digital production company so pitching
us next Lord of the Rings or Titanic would not
be very appropriate, as much as we'd love to take on a blockbuster
budget film someday. If you've got a script like that, GET
AN AGENT and talk to Hollywood! We want scripts that can be
produced at a high-quality but that remain cost-effective.
The following are some guidelines that should help define
what we are looking for in a script:
Can it be shot in 3 to 6 six-day weeks or less?
Can it be shot completely or mostly in Western Canada?
(Doesn't need to be set here, just to be able to be shot
here.)
Does it utilize limited locations?
Does it have no more than five or six principal roles? Does
it avoid the use of elaborate sets or extensive visual effects?
As you can see, we're pretty particular about what projects
we pursue, but that's because we want to do them justice.
Just like we'd want to do your project justice.
Think your script fits the bill? What to do now?
Submit a cover letter including a logline and a short synopsis
no longer than one page in length, with no attachments, via
email to:

If we are interested in taking the next step with your concept
or script, we'll forward a release to you. Any screenplay
which we request must be submitted with this signed release
form. If there is not a signed release the materials will
be returned or discarded.
Again, please do not send us your entire screenplay at this
point. Northbound Studios does not accepted unsolicited material.
